1 April 2026—This week, on 1-7 April, WHPA and its members are celebrating World Health Worker Week with a first: a joint social media campaign highlighting the unique value of health professionals which stems from the advanced education, rigorous regulation, and high degree of autonomy in clinical decision-making which set them apart.
The campaign's key message is that investing in the unique value of health professionals is not a cost, it is one of the highest-return public investments governments can make.

The coordinated social media campaign features videos made by each of the WHPA member organizations on a shared theme: that strong health systems depend on empowered, well-supported health professionals working in decent and safe conditions. Senior figures from across the global health professional associations have been invited to deliver these messages, in an effort to reach out to each profession and beyond, and to highlight the significance of the message.
The campaign is an example of WHPA’s interprofessional collaboration in action: Member organizations will support one another by amplifying shared messages and showcasing collective advocacy, with full support from the WHPA Secretariat.
